Details/FAQs

  • What is the Acceptance Academy?
Danny's Acceptance Academy is the premier college admissions program that he has developed over the last 10 years and has resulted in incredible success for students all over the world. After helping thousands of students create authentic, interesting, and unique applications, Danny has developed a proven system that is based on his understanding of how teenagers really work. His unique ability to use honesty, sarcasm, humor, and relatable stories is perhaps his biggest strength. After working as a public and private school teacher, test prep expert, and educational therapist, Danny dedicated himself to creating solutions that help students build their self-confidence and become the best versions of themselves. He then developed specific methods to help bring stories out of students that they can use in their applications to reflect their unique qualities and circumstances. Danny teaches students (and parents) that college admissions is a lot more than just getting good grades and test scores. At the end of the day, it is still about individual people looking to make connections with applicants who they believe will add something to their campus. By teaching teens how to do this through their applications and direct communication via email, visits, & interviews, he has seen his students achieve unparalleled success. Specifically, the Academy consists of 3 parts: 1) Danny's live, online monthly instruction. 2) His 3-day boot camp in the late summer before senior year. 3) During and after the Boot Camp, students meet 1-1 via Zoom with certified coaches to hone essays and review applications.
  • How is the Academy different than other application workshops (including those offered by high schools)?
Danny has spent the last 10 years perfecting the Academy to be work-driven so that students get walked through the entire admissions process. Other workshops only cover part of the process and typically consist of a lot of talking that does not result in the applications getting done or in students walking away feeling confident. Moreover, no other workshop we have seen allows students to get such 1-1 instruction with a personal writing and application coach. From the very beginning, this is what students told Danny they wanted the most, which is why the Academy has evolved so that students balance their time between learning what to do, doing it, and getting help making it as good as possible. Most importantly, students who attend the Academy get walked through Danny's philosophy of helping students write unconventional and authentic essays that catch the attention of admissions representatives and put together applications that truly reflect a student's unique qualities. The importance of the approach cannot be underestimated both in terms of helping reducing student anxiety and producing eventual results.
  • What will students get done?
Discover colleges that match a student's personality and interests. Learn which high school classes to choose. Ensure great college letters of recommendation. Learn how to best work with a school counselor. Discover how to get the most out of campus visits. Develop authentic, standout extracurriculars. Secure job/internships. Reach out to professors and admissions representatives. Craft activities lists that truly reflect a student's involvement. Fill out the college applications (Common Application, and other options including University of California, University of Texas, & University of Washington). Do in-depth research into each college on their list, using the schools' own websites and materials. Complete a full checklist of all the college requirements, deadlines, and essay questions. Write a standout Personal Statement that is required by almost all colleges. Write one-of-a-kind “Why do you want to attend our college?” essays. Meet 1-1 with a coach throughout the Academy & for one hour on Day 4 to create genuine, compelling applications. And much, much more that will help students show colleges who they truly are as individuals.
  • Where does the Academy take place?
The Academy takes place completely online via Zoom so that students join Danny as he walks them through the application process. Then, during the boot camp, each student will meet 1-1 with their coach for their personalized sessions via Zoom.
  • What if a student has additional applications or essays than those covered?
Our goal is to help students get their applications and essays done! This means that students will complete the three most widely-used college applications, the main personal statement essay (required by almost all selective four-year colleges), and several of the most commonly-asked supplemental essay questions. If a student is applying to a college that does not use one of the main common college applications, they will be able to take what they learn from the instruction and be able to complete it. Students will also learn strategies that can be applied to many variations of supplemental essay questions, as well as work on ideas with their coaches. Given the number of essay questions, however, it is possible that certain students will still have some work to do outside of the Academy. For those students who still have applications or essays to write after the Academy, they can continue working with their coaches 1-1 for an hourly fee of $125/hour. To be clear, the Academy is designed so that students can complete their apps without any extra help, but for those who want it, we’re available. We also encourage students to review their applications and essays with their parents and school counselors, so they typically submit the actual applications on their own. However, we do cover how to do submissions during the Academy and provide a video of the steps for them to review as necessary.
